Cape Peninsula Walk

Chapman's PeakWe depart on a tour of the Cape Peninsula and a walk in the Cape Point Nature Reserve. The reserve is the Cape's largest natural wildflower garden, particularly lovely in spring. We drive to the reserve via the Atlantic Seaboard, Hout Bay, Chapmans Peak and Kommetjie. We take the coastal path from Gifkommetjie to Platboom.

Enjoy a sea edge ramble to the world famous Cape of Good Hope, with a chance to see wild game: Caracal, baboons, a wide variety of buck and various other mammal species. Extending along 40 km of coastline, this fynbos-rich plateau accommodates an abundant birdlifeover 250 recorded species of birds ranging from ostriches to minuscule sunbirds. The Reserve has a spectacular coastline, with Cape Point possessing the highest sea cliffs in South Africa.

In the mid afternoon we return to the hotel via the False Bay coast. Cradled between the sea and high mountains, this route boasts many popular seaside resorts.

Along the way, we'll visit a land-based penguin colony at Simonstown, where you'll also see many interesting buildings that reflect the history of this naval town. Penguins in Simonstown
