| The Cedarberg Wilderness... | ||||||||||||||||||||
The
Cedarberg wilderness area lies north of Cape Town and encompasses 71,000
ha of rugged mountainous terrain. It is renowned for its spectacular
landscapes and rock formations resembling faces, animals, bridges and
archways, as well as its namesake, the increasingly rare Clanwilliam
Cedar. The whole range is a proclaimed wilderness area and a great
delight for climbers and walkers. Paths lead to remarkable places and
viewing sites. The weathered rock formations of the Cedarberg are
extraordinary to the point of being bizarre.
