The Garden Route runs parallel to a coastline that features lakes, mountains, golden beaches, cliffs and dense indigenous forests. From sources high in the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma Mountains, amber-colored rivers plunge into an ocean of mercurial moods.

Depart Cape Town and proceed along the N2 to Gordon's Bay, along the eastern shores of False Bay to Hermanus. We then continue through Stanford to Swellendam, and this afternoon we climb up over the Langeberg Mountains into the Little Karoo.

Today we visit the Cango Caves, and then one of the ostrich farms in the area. We then proceed up over the Outeniqua Mountains to the Wilderness region. Here we will enjoy a canoe trip on the serene Touw River, and an hour-long walk through the indigenous forest to a spectacular waterfall.

This morning we enjoy one of the most spectacular coastal walks in South Africa, in Robberg Nature Reserve. Robberg is noted for its varied coastal vegetation, rich inter-tidal life and many bird species.

Weather permitting, this afternoon we partake in an ecological boat tour of the bay and Maajties river area. Here Bottlenose dolphins are usually encountered as well as some shark species, and a variety of birds. We return to the lodge later this afternoon.

After breakfast we continue up through the Tsitsikamma Forest to the Storms River Mouth where we enjoy a walk through the indigenous forest. This dense forest is renowned for a large number of giant yellowwood and stinkwood trees, forest ferns, clear streams and magnificent birds. We then continue on to Port Elizabeth, and your next module.
