| Sandboarding

Sandboarding is a fast, fun, adrenaline pumping adventure,
comparable only to the rush of surfing or snowboarding. But don't expect it to be just like
snow, it's sand, and you have to ride it differently.
While the differences aren't staggering, it does take a little getting used to.
Closest to riding heavy, wet Pacific Northwest powder, sandboarding is slower
than snowboarding. Long, graceful carves are the rule,
and anyone who tries to put too many short cutback turns together will end
up with a mouthful of sand.
The
journey begins with a short drive along the West Coast or East Coast
(depending on weather and wind conditions). Arrive amongst brilliant
white sand dunes framed only by the majestic Table Mountain, the vast
Atlantic Ocean and pure blue skies. Sandboarding is best done on coastal dunes, as the ocean's moisture settles
into the sand each night, making the sand more solid and holding it together
like snow. The dunes are
up to 50 meters high with slopes of varying gradients, the most extreme
being 45 degrees, and rides as long as 200 meters.
Sandboarding is safe: you will
use specifically designed boards and binding systems that support and
protect your ankles, enabling you to carve effortlessly down the huge
dunes.
