The staff of Mettle, a specialist finance house, celebrated the end of 1999 with an action-packed weekend in the Southern Cape. "Our brief was to arrange a weekend where their staff and partners could interact with loads of activity and fun," said Ann Clarke, of Chameleon Indabas. "They are a young and active group who are ideally suited for a program of outdoor adventure sporting activities. But it was also the end of the millennium, so we wanted to come up with something truly memorable."

Mettle staff from Cape Town and Johannesburg were flown to George on chartered flights and transferred to the Keurbooms River Lodge near Plettenberg Bay. Waiting to brief them on activities for the following day were specialists in a range of adventure sports, including bungee jumping, sea kayaking, mountain biking, abseiling, triathlon combinations and hiking. They could also choose golf or a meander through Monkeyland primate sanctuary.

Guests were whisked off to the Look Out restaurant on the beach for a 1001 Arabian Nights evening. The venue was used again the following evening when an African themed dinner doubled as a prize-giving for the team of adventurers.

Sunday newspapers were delivered to each bedroom by the Chameleon Indabas team, along with an invitation to meet on the beach for a final morning of fun. The group could hardly believe their eyes when they found umbrellas and deckchairs set-up along the water's edge with refreshments and snacks. The Chameleon Indabas team provided a huge range of beach sports including volleyball, dolphin rides, beach bats, sea kayaking, wave boarding, cricket and kite-flying.

"The weekend was organized with military precision, yet the guests were never made to feel regimented. The activities were packed with adventure and fun."
